Announcing CincyPet Magazine’s Cover Model Contest Winner

CincyPet Magazine launched our first ever cover model contest in October, sponsored by NatrixOne. The contest ran through October 31 and we had close to 400 total entries. Voting was fierce and our Top 5 entries earned more than 1500 votes combined! Votes were limited to one per day per user and all voters had to register in order to keep the voting process fair for everyone. It’s no surprise that those with the most votes in the contest leveraged their family, friends, and social media followers to rock the vote.

Coming in first place is the adorable duo of Mojito and Apollo. These German shepherd pups are not quite six months old. According to their mom, Kayla Leonard, they are true pandemic pups. The family they were adopted from in Urbana, OH, had been unable to get a new family dog altered because of the pandemic shutdown in March of veterinary clinics performing spay and neuter surgeries, thus an unexpected litter of puppies was born. Learning about the puppies from a family friend, Kayla and her husband, Mike, decided to add to their household of four cats. Apollo and Mojito will not only appear on the cover of future edition of CincyPet Magazine, photographed by Pet Love Photography, but they also won a deluxe gift basket of prizes from our prize sponsors NatrixOne, EarthWise Pet – Harper’s Point, I love PetCakes, and The Hand of Allhands. You can follow these two pups and their adventures on Instagram @theadventuresofmojitoandapollo.

Foster, a one-year old Bernese mountain dog, was our first-runner up. This handsome pup has already done so much in his first year of life from going on family vacations to starting school and is also training to be a show dog. His second place finish in the contest is just another feather in the cap of this busy boy. Foster won a gift basket of prizes from our sponsors. You can follow Foster on Instagram @fostertheberner.

Our second runner up is a five-year old pomeranian, Casper. According to his dad, Casper’s favorite activities are being spoiled, demanding pets, hogging the bed, and wrestling with his little brother Gizmo. Casper won a gift basket of prizes from our sponsors. Hopefully, he will share with his little brother. You can follow Casper and his little brother Gizmo on Instagram @the_weaselcheeses.

The Top Three will also get VIP Invitations to future CincyPet Magazine events (when we can start having events, again.) If you would like to be a VIP at our events, you can join our new VIP Club!

The rest of the best...

The other pets rounding out our Top Five in voting are Archie, a golden retriever pup who came in fourth place. You can follow Archie and his two husky brothers on Instagram @thetwoagoutis. Rounding out our Top Five is Calypso, a corgi beauty who has a gorgeous Instagram account @calypsothecorgi.

Joining the others in the Top Ten are Calypso’s sister, Roxie (@roxiethedoxie); Milo Jay (@luna.mae.adventures); Watson (@watsonthebassamutt);  Buddy, a bull terrier; and Luna—Milo Jay’s big sister (@luna.mae.adventures).

The Top 15 included our only duck contestant, Mally the Mallard; Lady, a gorgeous husky (@lady.the.husky); Bella, a city dwelling hound mix (@bella_inthecity); Ringo, a handsome Australian shepherd (@aussie_ringo); and Asher, a Northern Kentucky cockapoo (@asherdacockapoo).

The Top Fifteen will be featured in the January/February 2021 issue of CincyPet Magazine and all pets entered in the contest will appear in future editions of the magazine.

We are thrilled with the success of our first cover model contest and a new cover model contest will return later in 2021.
