Cincinnati Animal CARE is encouraging Cincinnati to Adopt, Don’t Shop this holiday season with extended hours and reduced adoption fees for Black Friday. The shelter will be open from 1 PM – 10 PM, with adoption fees reduced to just $9.99 for all animals over 6 months old.
“When we say ‘adopt, don’t shop,’ we mean it literally this year,” said Ray Anderson, Media and Community Relations Manager. “You could stand in line with a bunch of people hoping to get that cheap TV or you could adopt your new best friend!”
Since October 1, Cincinnati Animal CARE has taken in 1,249 animals and is at -30 kennels for dogs. That means there are 30 more dogs in the facility than there are places to put them. “We’re committed to housing only one dog per kennel, but this is by far the worst it’s ever been,” said Anderson. “We need our community to adopt in order to maintain that pledge.”
Cincinnati Animal CARE is located at 3949 Colerain Avenue in Northside and will be closed to the public on Thanksgiving Day. Doors will reopen on Friday, November 26, from 1 PM – 10 PM and resume normal 1 PM – 6 PM hours on Saturday.
