Cincinnati Animal CARE Reduces Adoption Fees for Halloween Weekend

Shelter takes in 700 animals in just 27 days

In the midst of the shelter’s worst intake month to date, Cincinnati Animal CARE will be reducing adoption fees for all adult animals (over six months old) to $10.31 for Halloween weekend, Friday, October 29 through Sunday, October 31.

“We’ve just been clobbered this month,” said Ray Anderson, Media and Community Relations Manager. “We had 150 animals adopted in a single weekend earlier this month and it didn’t even make a dent in shelter capacity due to how many more keep coming in.”

Cincinnati Animal CARE is a no-kill organization and only houses one dog per kennel, but 700 animals in a single month makes their mission far more challenging. The shelter has 100 dog kennels and 100 cat cages and was already way over capacity before October began.

“We’ve leaned hard on our fosters, we’ve got dogs living in offices, but the reality is, we need them to find homes,” said Anderson.

Cincinnati Animal CARE is open seven days a week at 3949 Colerain Avenue in Northside from 1:00 pm – 6:00 pm. No appointments or deposits are necessary to meet any animal in-shelter. The shelter encourages potential adopters to browse available pets ahead of time at cincinnatianimalcare.org.
