Golden Opportunity to Volunteer with Area Rescue

Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs looks to fill volunteer positions

Volunteers are the heart and soul of many non-profit organizations, but for animal rescue organizations, they are the lifeblood. Volunteers are crucial for all rescue organizations because without volunteers to foster animals or work with potential adopters, a rescue organization becomes limited in the life-saving work they can take on. That is the dilemma that one area rescue, Golden Retriever Rescue & Adoption of Needy Dogs, or GRRAND for short, is facing. Currently, they are looking for volunteers to help with the adoption process by screening potential adopters and for volunteers willing to make home visits, but other volunteer positions are also available. Rescue organizations often require home visits to make sure that the potential adopter is not only providing the right environment for the animal but that their home is a good fit.

GRRAND is an all-volunteer, 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that is dedicated to the rescue, rehabilitation, and rehoming of displaced, abandoned or abused Golden Retrievers. If there is room available, they will take in other retriever mixes, including Great Pyrenees and labs. GRRAND was established in 1996 and although they will admit Goldens in need of rescue from any area from which transportation can be provided, they only place dogs in areas where they have established volunteers willing to conduct home visits prior to adoption and provide follow-up support after placement (Louisville and Lexington, KY and Cincinnati to Dayton, OH). GRRAND relies completely on donations and funds acquired through grants, fundraising efforts, and events to provide for the needs of their rescued dogs. GRRAND is continually in need of new volunteers to assist with screening applications, conducting home visits for prospective adopters, foster dogs awaiting adoption, walking dogs housed in their GRRAND kennel, transporting dogs from shelters, grooming incoming dogs, assisting with medical needs or vet care for dogs awaiting adoption, and providing follow-up support to families adopting rescued GRRAND dogs.
